Kicking his opponent’s leg straight, Sergio Ramos set a red card record

In the 88th minute of the match against Sevilla, Real Sociedad had a dangerous attack. Brais Mendez was knocked down by Sergio Ramos. Initially, referee Miguel Ortiz gave a yellow card to the Sevilla midfielder. When VAR stepped in, the referee removed Ramos’ yellow card and changed it to a direct red card.

The former Real Madrid captain deserved to be sent off the field. It was a tackle in which Ramos showed that he had no intention of retracting his legs when colliding with the opponent. This tackle could completely cause Mendez serious injury.

According to Mister Chip ‘s statistics , Ramos has reached the mark of 30 disqualifications in official matches. This is an “achievement” that no other Spanish player has achieved.

Previously, Ramos was sent off once for Sevilla B, 26 times while playing for Real Madrid, twice with PSG and once with Sevilla. In La Liga alone, Ramos also holds the record with 21 dismissals. However, the interesting thing is that Ramos has never received a red card for the Spanish national team.

Immediately after Ramos’ red card, veteran Jesus Navas was also disqualified for reacting. Sevilla’s two oldest players, Ramos (37 years, 241 days) and Navas (38 years, 5 days), both received red cards.

With 9 people on the field, Sevilla could not reverse the situation against Sociedad. The home team at Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium did not win for the 5th consecutive match and remained in 16th place on the rankings. Meanwhile, Sociedad is still chasing the top 4 of La Liga with 6 points less.
