SPAIN MANAGER RESPONDS SARCASTICALLY WHEN ASKED ABOUT A POTENTIAL SERGIO RAMOS CALL-UP

As reported by AS, during a visit to Seville, Spain manager Luis de la Fuente responded to questions about Sergio Ramos potentially being brought back into the national side. De la Fuente responded by saying that he is tired of being asked the same questions about the defender and that “we are not always dependent on him.”

Since Ramos arrived at his boyhood club, Sevilla, a few weeks ago, he has impressed with his solid performances at the back, consequently arousing questions over whether a return to the Spain national squad is on the cards.

The 37-year-old was left out of the World Cup squad that went to Qatar, which led to speculation about whether he may retire from international football. However, the defender’s own declarations after the Champions League match against Arsenal on Tuesday fuelled questions over whether he may yet be set for a return to the Spanish squad. The defender said: “It is true that everyone knows about my eagerness to return to the national side, but that is not dependent on me… it is others who have to decide.”
