Meet Leo, The Home Depot’s Cutest and Most Dedicated Employee

  • October 5, 2023

Animals make fantastic friends. They not only offer emotional support but can also be incredible helpers at work. Today, let’s meet Leo, the most extraordinary employee at Home Depot.

Leo joined the team at the Home Depot store in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, when they had a little problem with rodents. They brought Leo in from a local shelter, hoping he’d lend a helping paw.

It turns out, Leo is an ace employee who gives his all at work. He not only catches those pesky rodents but also takes care of them, sparing the staff and customers from unpleasant sights.

Leo quickly won over the customers’ hearts, and it’s funny that visitors would spend more time giving him pets than looking for lightbulbs or paint. Everyone is charmed by this confident employee and his snazzy shirt.

At first, customers thought they were helping Leo beat the heat by taking off his shirt, but then the staff put up a sign that said, “Please do not take Leo’s shirt off.” It turned out Leo had to wear the shirt after a vet visit for a scratch on his skin. But he looked so good in it that the staff decided to make it a tradition to dress him up.

One day, Jeff Simpkins, a cat lover, along with his two own cats, Will and Grace, came to the store. He met Leo and was intrigued by the idea of a cat living there. He asked an employee about Leo’s well-being and found out Leo was living the high life with a fancy cat tree, plenty of treats, a clean toilet, and loads of attention from staff and customers at the store.

From that day on, Jeff visited Leo regularly, and they became good friends. Jeff often brought his cat, Will, to come and play with Leo. He also started making TikToks about Leo and answering people’s questions.

While many were worried about Leo’s living conditions in the store, Jeff posted a video where an employee assured him that Leo sleeps in a comfy, climate-controlled gardening section. The store can’t close until they make sure Leo is all settled for the night. That’s probably the best part of anyone’s shift!

Jeff’s TikToks quickly went viral and got millions of views. You can see Leo in various poses, getting pets, and even helping to catch a mouse in these videos.

As Leo became more popular, people started visiting the store just to meet him. They brought him presents and treats, and he happily accepted them.

However, Leo needs to cut back on treats! Home Depot employee Donna, who looks after him, says he’s a bit on the “chonky” side and needs to go on a diet. At least he gets plenty of exercise running around the store!

Leo not only earns his keep but also helps other cats without even trying. He’s breaking stereotypes about shelter cats and showing that shelters are full of adorable furry pals who are ready to help with any problem, whether it’s a mouse infestation or a lonely heart. And imagine how warm your hands would be holding a soft cat. Maybe it’s a sign to visit a local cat shelter?
