Friendly Kittens Keep Crawling Out of the Woodwork at This Cluttered Car Shop

  • September 30, 2023

Pro rescuer Heidi had her hands full with foster kittens living the VIP Life at ‘Chez Heidi’ when she arrived at a car shop that quickly looked more like a fully-stocked kitten shop. Returning numerous times, she rescued around 20 kittens and 6 adult cats coming out of the woodwork! It’s overwhelming to see so many kittens coming from one location, but that’s not unheard of for rescuers when cats aren’t spayed or neutered. This shop is the perfect example of why spaying and neutering is so important.

Fortunately, the rescue effort wasn’t a total cat-astrophe because the employees were handling and caring for the abundant kittens. Instead of scrambling to trap frightened semi-feral wildcats, it was just a matter of scooping them up one by one. Once at Chez Heidi, these little cuties would have a chance for happy lives as house cats. Of the six adult mama cats, several were friendly and later found homes, too! Three were spayed or neutered and returned to live at the car shop, and still more kittens went to other homes.

It’s challenging just to do the math of this one colony rescue, much less get in there and do the hard work! Thanks to kind supporters, she’s able to do it full time and Brooklyn is very lucky to have her!

On Heidi’s first visit, she opened up a large speaker system and out popped six kitten cuties. Nobody knows how they got in there, and she had to pull each one out one at a time. You can hear a child squealing with delight at seeing the cuties come out of the giant speakers (see video below).

And don’t worry, you see their mama, Midnight, has been reunited and is nursing them. Since Chez Heidi was overloaded with fosters, a dad and his daughter took all of these babies and their mama to start new lives in foster care.

Surely, six kittens and their mama cat would be enough for one car shop, right? Wrong. Heidi returned to gather four more kittens and their “super sweet” mama. This time, the kittens all received cute auto-themed names. Like the other car shop kitties, they were friendly, and it was a relatively straightforward matter of scooping them up by hand.

As you can see, there were hiding spots for kittens everywhere, so it would have been almost impossible to catch them if they weren’t so used to being near people.

“Back at the car repair shop (where the kittens in the speaker came from), to rescue 4 more kittens and their mom,” Heidi shared.

Surely, that was all of the kittens? Nope! Again, they just kept on a’ coming and receiving car-themed names. This time, they were really beautiful polydactyl kitties with extra toes.

“This week, I was back at the car shop for this stunning family! And it was one of the easiest trappings I’ve ever had  . Our beautiful mama Airbag is already settling comfortably into her foster home, but I still need fosters for all four kittens: Catalytic Converter, Hubcap, Fender, and Ignition!”

Oh, but then she had to rescue Stereo, Amp, and Speaker! It just seemed to be never-ending.

“Back at the car shop this week with yet another litter of kittens  . Slowly but surely making our way through this colony of cats, rescuing kittens and spaying all of their moms!”

All in all, here’s a list of (most of) the kittens and friendly adult cats that Heidi helped at the car shop. We’re a little tired just seeing them all and thankful for rescuers like Heidi who are willing to save them.

You can follow and support Heidi Wrangles Cats on Instagram. At the time of this writing, many of the car shop kittens and Big Dipper are seeking homes in the Brooklyn area.
