Derby was suffocating, MU scored a dramatic score against Liverpool at Old Trafford

Manchester United held Liverpool to a draw at home in a 4-goal match, within the framework of round 32 of the 2023/24 Premier League.

On the evening of April 7, the highlight match of round 32 of the Premier League between Manchester United and Liverpool took place with a crazy scenario.

Right in the first minutes, Jurgen Klopp’s team put enormous pressure on Man United’s field. In the 23rd minute, from Darwin Nunez’s reverse header, Luis Diaz made a smart move before launching a volley shot past goalkeeper Onana.

Having scored a goal to take the lead, the Red Brigade played with more confidence and continuously bombarded MU’s goal. In the first half, Liverpool launched 15 shots towards Onana’s goal. Meanwhile, MU could not make any shots in the first half.

After the break, Liverpool was still the more dominant team, accounting for most of the ball control.

However, the surprise came in the 50th minute when Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah passed the ball straight into the feet of Bruno Fernandes. Realizing that the goal was vacant after goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher advanced, the Portuguese midfielder immediately launched a long-range shot from 40 meters away to equalize 1-1 for Man United.

Continuing the excitement, MU caused the Old Trafford stadium to explode by taking a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute. Kobbie Mainoo received the ball at the edge of the penalty area, before turning and finishing the shot into the far corner of Liverpool’s goal. Even though Kelleher flew at his full height, he still couldn’t block the goal.

Receiving 2 quick goals, The Kop had no choice but to raise their squad to attack in full force. Their efforts paid off when Harvey Elliott earned a penalty in the 83rd minute. On the penalty spot, Mohamed Salah did not make a mistake to equalize the score at 2-2.

In the remaining minutes, the two teams played very hard but no more goals were scored. In the end, Man United divided points against Liverpool with a score of 2-2.

With this result, MU is still in 6th place with 49 points, they are 11 points away from the top 4 and have 1 match left. On the other hand, this disastrous draw caused Jurgen Klopp’s team to fall to 2nd place in the rankings. The Red Brigade has the same 71 points as Arsenal, but is behind due to losing on goal difference.
