Barcelona plans to give Man Utd’s successor Messi’s number 10 shirt

According to The Sun, Barcelona is very serious with its plan to recruit Mason Greenwood.

The English striker is reviving strongly despite not having played in the past 2 years. He scored 5 goals and had 4 assists for his teammates to score in La Liga. Thanks to Greenwood’s brilliant form, Getafe is in the group that can win tickets to the European Cup.

Barcelona used a “special” method to entice Mason Greenwood. Players born in 2001 will be given Lionel Messi’s legendary number 10 shirt if they agree to move to Camp Nou.

Previously, Ansu Fati wore shirt number 10, but did not show much. He got injured and moved to Brighton in the English Premier League on a loan contract.

In fact, Mason Greenwood is still under contract with Man Utd. If they want to recruit the former England international, Barcelona must spend no less than 40 million pounds. The problem is that the Old Trafford team has no intention of selling their precious gem.

The plan to bring Greenwood to Getafe is reluctant for the Red Devils. Besides Antony on the left wing, coach Erik ten Hag only has two not-so-excellent options: Pellistri and Amad Diallo.

Therefore, the Dutch military leader really wants to bring Mason Greenwood back to England as soon as possible. The biggest obstacle for Greenwood comes from the backlash from the Man Utd women’s team and some fans.

On January 30, 2022, Greenwood was arrested for pictures and videos of assaulting his girlfriend online. Greenwood was accused of assaulting and coercing his girlfriend. After a year of investigation, the court suspended the case and concluded Greenwood was innocent because the victim withdrew her complaint.

The Red Devils’ leadership conducted an internal investigation and took personal testimony. Man Utd’s purpose is to consider whether to bring back players born in 2001. Therefore, for the past half year, Greenwood has not been able to practice even though he still receives a regular salary of $100,000 a week.

However, feminists believe that Greenwood does not deserve to wear the Man Utd shirt anymore. Many of the club’s female players voiced a boycott if this striker returns. Therefore, the team’s leadership accepted to say goodbye to the young star.

Greenwood is one of the elite products of the Carrington training facility. He joined the team when he was 6 years old. Greenwood began appearing for the first team in the 2018/2019 season. Since then, this player has appeared in 88 matches and scored 22 goals.
