It’s almost time for Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, which is a spin-off of Young Sheldon, which was a prequel series to The Big Bang Theory. Still following? It’s crazy how for almost 20 years, we’ve been focused on Sheldon Cooper’s story. And now, it’s Georgie’s (Montana Jordan) turn to shine even more!
Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage premieres Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. You can stream episodes the next day on Paramount+ as well. And of course as we get closer to the premiere date of the highly-anticipated fall television show, that also means we’re getting more tidbits about the series. CBS has previously shared the first-look images (including Meemaw!). And now, we finally have the trailer. Check it out below!
It’s not a very long trailer, but it does give us an idea of what’s to come. And that makes us so excited! Here’s 3 takeaways from the trailer that have us really looking forward to the CBS sitcom.
More McAllister mayhem
Rachel Bay Jones as Audrey and Will Ssso as Jim were first introduced as Mandy’s parents in Young Sheldon. But now as they’re series regulars on the sequel series, we’re going to see much more of the McAllisters. Especially since Georgie, Mandy (Emily Osment), and CeCe have all moved in. Talk about a full house!
What’s interesting to me is the fact that not only is there going to be tension between Adurey and Mandy, the mother-daughter complicated relationship has been a staple since the characters were first introduced. Now, Georgie is going to start standing up for himself to Audrey’s subtle, but snide, comments.
With the synopsis of the premiere episode teasing that the young couple considers moving out after “a conflict with Mandy’s mom,” this could be it. Up until this point, Georgie has just let Audrey’s comments slide. He’s a very easy going guy overall. But that might change now that they’ve been living together longer. I’m looking forward to Georgie speaking up more, and even Audrey learning to communicate better. Character growth is a thing after all.

Georgie and Mandy are in a good place
Despite the cheeky title of the show, it looks like this time period, or at least this season right now, the creatives of the series are focusing on the good times between Georgie and Mandy. After all, even when couples split there’s always a period of time when they were once happy. And right now, Georgie and Mandy are.
I’m curious to see more of their unconventional relationship, as well as perhaps more scenes with CeCe. The young parents have been doing a great job so far, and I’m sure they will continue to do so. Which is why I’m hoping Audrey will learn to cut Georgie some slack. Yes, he made a big mistake hiding his age initially and the situation is not ideal. But he stepped up, took responsibility, and I think has more than proved himself. I’m excited to see them in a bit more of a stable place finally and work more together as a team.

Georgie and Jim’s dynamic
Since the start, Jim has stood up for Georgie – as best he could – and supports him overall. The two have developed a nice relationship as father and son-in-law. And now with the passing of George, the eldest Cooper might be looking for another father figure when it comes to advice and support. And I think Jim is going to be that for him. Especially since the two are working at the tire store together.
I’m excited to learn more about this backstory for the character, who we know grows up to have a number of successful tire shops as an adult thanks to The Big Bang Theory. It was a quick hug in Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage trailer, but I can already tell this dynamic is going to give me bittersweet feels.
