Although Dr. Crockett Marcel’s exit from Chicago Med is heartbreaking, two exciting new characters were introduced during the season 10 premiere who can easily fill the hole in viewers’ hearts left by Marcel’s departure. The NBC medical drama, created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, revolves around Gaffney Chicago Medical Center (a fictional hospital) in Chicago, Illinois. Many doctors and nurses have come and gone at Gaffney over the course of the TV show’s numerous seasons, but Chicago Med season 10’s two new doctors leave a lasting impression.
Season 10 kicks off about a month following the events of the shocking Chicago Med season 9 finale. Amidst a tragic shipwreck resulting in a frantic ED, many characters deal with personal issues in the episode. Ripley is feeling the ramifications of Pawel’s assault accusations after a witness comes forward placing him at the scene, and Ripley admits to Hannah (who is “on a break” from him) that Sully was behind the attack. Also, Dr. Charles’ breakup with Lilianna leads to her leaving the hospital. Meanwhile, Maggie and Archer’s first impressions of the two newbies aren’t exactly ideal.
Chicago Med Season 10 Introduced Dr. Caitlin Lenox & Dr. John Frost
Sarah Ramos & Darren Barnet Join The Cast
Sarah Ramos (Parenthood) and Darren Barnet (Never Have I Ever) join the Chicago Med season 10 cast as Dr. Caitlin Lenox and Dr. John Frost, respectively, during the premiere. Goodwin hires Lenox to be co-chief of the Emergency Department alongside Archer, who isn’t too pleased to be sharing his title. However, with Jackson Monroe Hospital closing, Gaffney’s patient numbers will double. So, it makes sense why Goodwin wants more than one person running the ED, and Lenox proves herself more than capable while Gaffney treats the shipwreck victims in the premiere.
As for Frost, Barnet’s character is a pediatric doctor from Jackson Monroe. He brings one of his young patients, Zoey, who needs an MRI, to Gaffney. Of course, due to the shipwreck, Maggie tries turning Frost away. However, Frost’s charm and persistence, mixed with Zoey’s urgent need for medical help, convinces Maggie to let them in. Frost then learns that Zoey has a tumor in her brain and Dr. Abrams successfully removes it. With Jackson Monroe closing, it’s only a matter of time (probably episode 2) before Frost joins Gaffney and becomes Manning’s replacement in Chicago Med season 10.
Lenox & Frost Are Polar Opposites & That’s A Breath Of Fresh Air
Lenox Was In The Army & Frost Is Good With Kids
To be honest, Lenox’s and Frost’s introductions in the Chicago Med season 10 premiere are so good that they could easily make one forget all about Marcel’s exit. Neither Lenox nor Frost are like Marcel, and the two new characters are seemingly polar opposites themselves. Lenox is stern, blunt, and excellent at her job. Frost is as well, but their two roles are completely different in the One Chicago TV show. While Lenox has to run an entire ED (alongside Archer) and make tough decisions on the fly, Frost has to be charming, patient, and diligent as a pediatric doctor.
Chicago Med Season 10 Cast | Role |
---|---|
S. Epatha Merkerson | Sharon Goodwin |
Oliver Platt | Dr. Daniel Charles |
Marlyne Barrett | Maggie Lockwood |
Steven Weber | Dr. Dean Archer |
Jessy Schram | Dr. Hannah Asher |
Luke Mitchell | Dr. Mitch Ripley |
Sarah Ramos | Dr. Caitlin Lenox |
Darren Barnet | Dr. John Frost |
As Chicago Med season 10 goes on, the audience will learn more about Lenox and Frost. Hopefully, the intrigue surrounding Lenox and Frost will only continue to grow with each passing episode, and their relationships with other established Chicago Med characters will develop. There’s already tension between Lenox and Archer, who undoubtedly hates that Goodwin hired her to help him. Plus, Frost and Maggie share a certain type of chemistry that can’t be defined (yet). Overall, Lenox and Frost both bring a breath of fresh air to Chicago Med, which the NBC medical drama has been needing for a while.
Lenox & Frost Make Up For Marcel’s Disappointing Exit
The New Chicago Med Season 10 Characters Are Excellent Replacements For Marcel
Knowing that Dominic Rains, who played Marcel, is no longer a part of the Chicago Med cast is still disappointing. Marcel was a dynamic character who undoubtedly made his mark on the series. However, Lenox and Frost are more than worthy replacements for Marcel after his exit during the Chicago Med season 9 finale.
As mentioned above, Ramos and Barnet’s characters are already quite interesting, and NBC has only aired one episode of season 10. They more than make up for Marcel’s exit. Ultimately, it’s sad that Rains is among the many One Chicago actors not returning in 2024, but the show must go on, and Lenox and Frost are already more than capable of serving as Marcel’s replacement in Chicago Med.
