Thanksgiving is a time for the whole family to gather, no matter where you live. And that makes for the perfect opportunity for a reunion and to do so on television shows as well. Especially in the case of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage being a spin-off of Young Sheldon on CBS.
Per TVLine, we’re getting a Thanksgiving episode and it features a reunion with almost all of the major Young Sheldon characters celebrating the holiday with the McAllisters! Well, except for one major character. And that would be Sheldon himself.
Annie Potts, who plays Connie/Meemaw, shared a behind-the-scenes video of her, Zoe Perry as Mary, Raegan Revord as Missy, and even Craig T. Nelson as Dale in the McAllister home with Will Sasso as Jim, Rachel Bay Jones as Audrey, Dougie Baldwin as Mandy’s brother Connor, and Jessie Prez as tire store employee Ruben. And of course, Emily Osment (check out our interview) and Montana Jordan as the titular characters were also there!
Per the news outlet, the Thanksgiving episode of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage will be episode 5. An air date has been shared yet, but I’m assuming it’s going to be either around the holiday, or on Thanksgiving itself since it’s a Thursday. As a reminder, the new show premieres Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024 on CBS.
We already know that Meemaw and Mary are going to pop up in the premiere episode (yay!) and Missy is featured in episode 2. It’s so exciting to know that the characters and actors are going to be around for more than just one episode so far. However, it is sad that Ian Armitage as Sheldon Cooper himself isn’t going to be in the Thanksgiving episode at least.

Based on Sheldon’s character, it does make sense. All he cares about, especially at this point in time, is his studies. And though he’s likely off of school at Caltech in Pasadena, California, he probably wants to spend his break studying instead of spending time with family. And California is not super close to Texas for him to come out a few days.
Though this is definitely going to be a noticeable absence, and I hope the series brings Sheldon in at some point. Armitage has already expressed interest in returning whenever he can. We’d definitely love to see that! Right now though, I’m focusing on what we are getting. And that’s most of the main characters, except George of course as well. I’m still crying over his death. Sigh.
